Midweek Reminders from Pastor
Joel
I am the word, spoken and
silent,
the way, the life,
the truth.
I am the word that
whispers, asks, seeks, finds.
I am the word that begins
and ends life,
opens tombs,
raises seed, quiets fear.
I know all the words of
all tongues,
all words of
Webster,
and make them into
one word, Love.
I am the word of all
words, the truth of all truths,
the way of all
ways.
I am the word read,
hummed, doubted, believed.
I give people dreams,
hope, work to do.
I create
forgiveness.
I am the word in the
kitchen, at play, in war, in the
night, at dawn, at
work, at the end.
I am the everlasting word
that was before the
beginning,
will be after the
ending, and is now.
I am the word of the
Lord.
(The Word, by Herb
Brokering, shared with permission from Wheat Ridge
Ministries)
We begin the new year the
same as we ended the old. With Jesus, the Word of God made flesh.
The Word incarnated, crucified, risen, and present in our worship. O come
let us adore him...and let him take root in our hearts and
lives.
CONSECRATED
STEWARDS: Our congregation is the first in the NW District
to engage this new program. Kick-off Sunday will be January
21, and Ryan McIvor from our District office will be our Guest
Leader. The process runs 8 weeks, with 3 weeks of follow-up. The
culmination will be Consecration Sunday, March 18. PLEASE pay attention to
all the printed materials you will be receiving, and read them carefully.
The success of CS depends on full participation from every member of
Redeemer. Read more about CS in this month's newsletter.
ADULT BIBLE
STUDY: As part of the Consecrated Stewards process, there
will be special Bible studies forthcoming. In light of that, I will not
begin a new, extended Bible study before we begin CS, but want to
invite you to join me for a discussion of the Sunday worship readings from the
Bible for the next few Sundays. We meet at 8:50am - 9:45am in
the Commons Room.
YOUTH SUMMER MISSION
TRIP: Planning will begin soon for this annual
event. If you would like to participate in the planning task force, please
talk with Jonet Schutz.
THANKS TO OUR WONDERFUL
YOUTH and their adult counselors for all their help in
decorating the Christmas tree in our sanctuary, and for taking it down this
week. Indeed, our thanks to ALL in our congregation who helped beautify
our church for the holidays! It looked just great!
'In the beginning was the
Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... What has come
into being with him was life, and the life was the light of all people.'
