'Brothers and sisters,
join in imitating me, and observe those who live according to the example you
have in us.' St Paul, writing in Philippians
3.17
Paul has no hesitation in his
belief that our lifestyle is a powerful witness of our faith. I wonder how
many of us would be so bold as to tell others, 'Look at me. My life
genuinely reflects my Lord and my faith.' Any takers? I thought
not. This means we each have plenty of work to do in allowing God's Spirit
to transform the pattern of our lives into the way Jesus lived. Lent
is a time to invite God to do just that.
MIDWEEK LENTEN
VESPERS: Our Wednesday evening Vespers begin at
7pm, and are preceded by our Soup and Bread Suppers at 6pm.
These midweek services are not meant to take the place of Sunday worship.
Rather, they are opportunities to deepen your spiritual life in the midst of
your busy week. Our theme: "Lord, Teach Us To Pray: Great Prayers from the
Christian Tradition".
CONSECRATED STEWARDS
BIBLE STUDIES: Please join us for the special Bible
studies being offered in connection with our Consecrated Stewards emphasis these
next few weeks. Opportunities: Friday morning Bible class, and
Sunday mornings at 8:45 - 9:45am. This week's theme: 'Cheerful Giving and
the Spice of Life'.
CONSECRATION
SUNDAY: The culmination of this emphasis on stewardship
comes on March 18.
Please dedicate this morning to being in worship and at the celebration luncheon
immediately following.
SOUP
SUPPERS: We rely on you to help with these Wednesday
evening suppers. If you are able to provide soup, bread, or desert, please
choose a date and sign up on the sheet posted on the main bulletin
board. Thanks!
NORTHWEST SENIORS AND
DISABILITIES SERVICES: Beth Jackson has kindly provided a
number of excellent booklets outlining the services of NWSDS offices throughout
the area. These booklets are available in the rack across from the food
barrel. Please feel free to take one.
