Pastor's Midweek Reminders

O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.’ Psalm 104.24

From ancient times, the Christian Church has celebrated a Spring festival known as Rogation Days. That festival always falls during Easter season, usually in April. The point of Rogation Days is to ask God’s blessing on the earth’s soil, seeds that are planted, and water. By extension, it includes the care of all creation, recognizing that God has commanded us to be good, careful, and wise stewards of the earth.

This Sunday we will celebrate the gift of creation, and our readings, songs, and prayers will reflect the thankful tone of the Psalm verse above.

WHAT’S NEW AND WORTHY OF CELEBRATION? As part of my devotions for Church Council meeting last night, I listed all the wonderful new ministries going on here at Redeemer. I want to share some of those things, and ask you to join me in celebrating these new ministries ~

SUNDAY ADULT CLASSES: Beginning April 27 and extending through May 18, both adult classes will come together for our special Bible studies for Consecrated Stewards, led by me. The title of those studies is “Matters of the Heart”. If you’re not part of our regular Bible study time on Sundays, please make a special effort to join us for these 4 weeks.

FOOD BARREL: Although we do regular food drives every few months, the need for food to help feed the hungry is ongoing. So please make it a regular habit to bring some food items for our Food Barrel. All our food offerings go to Marion Polk Food Share, currently experiencing great challenges in keeping enough food on hand to feed the growing number of hungry families in our area. Thanks!
