'The man called Jesus...' St John 9.11
'He is a prophet...' St John 9.17
'Lord, I believe.'  St John 9.38

The blind man.  In this magnificent story that serves as our Gospel reading for Sunday, we witness a blind man being given his sight by Jesus.  But on a deeper level, we see this man moving from thinking of Jesus as simply 'the man' to recognizing him as 'a prophet' and finally worshiping him with the words, 'Lord, I believe.'

Beautiful!!  Life's path isn't a stroll through a rose garden.  It's tough, it's a fight, it's a quest.  Along the way, blessed are we when God opens our eyes to see that no matter what life throws us, Jesus is right alongside of us.  He took that path of life all the way to a Cross.  He 'gets' us.  And by the sheer grace of God, we see more and more deeply into the heart of God's love until, in every instance, we too can say 'Lord, I believe.'

"Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me;
I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see."

APRIL NEWSLETTER:
Please pick up your copy of our 'Spirit Call' and read it through thoroughly    It's chock full of good things and lots of announcements about ways we can 'walk the talk' of Christian faith by serving, helping, contributing, participating.

MIDWEEK LENTEN VESPERS AND SOUP SUPPERS:  Take advantage of this wonderful oasis in the middle of our busy weeks. We invite you to join us for a 6pm Soup and Bread Supper, followed at 7pm by Lenten Vespers using the Holden Evening Prayer service.  We will need your help with the soup suppers, so please offer that help on the sign-up sheet posted on the main bulletin board.  My preaching theme for these Vespers is "From Brokenness to Healing".  We'll be looking at stories of healing from the Gospels, stories that cover the breadth of the healing we all need in body, mind, and spirit.  This week's topic: Relationships.

PASTOR JOEL'S ADULT SUNDAY CLASS:   This coming Sunday we look at the topic of "Dying Well" in our ongoing class, Practicing Our Faith.  Please join us in the Commons Room for this guided discussion class based on powerful Christian ways of living out our faith in the world.  We meet from 8:50 - 9:45am.  Coffee and refreshments are available.
