Pastor Joel's Mid-Week Reminders for 7/05/2011
This entry was posted on 7/5/2011 7:01 PM and is filed under Mid-Week Reminders.
'For as
the
rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return
there until
they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and
sprout, giving
seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word
be that goes
out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it
shall
accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing
for which I
sent it.' Isaiah 55.10-11
This is one of
the most
magnificent assurances in the Bible of God's faithfulness
to his
promises. With beautiful imagery from nature, Isaiah
lifts our eyes to
the simple lesson of creation: rain and snow melt provide
the earth with
one of the basic elements of nourishment. If this is
true, then by
extension God will certainly provide all that we need for
body and
soul.
His word governs our lives, and that word is always a word
of grace, of
life, of assurance that he is present in every
circumstance and
situation of our daily lives. Even the rains can dry up,
but God's
word will never fail nor forsake us. That promise is made
sure in the
great Word of God, his Son Jesus Christ. Live
confidently!
SPECIAL GUESTS THIS SUNDAY, JULY
10:
During our worship on Sunday, the Lutheran volunteers from the
Salem
area who traveled to Louisiana recently to help rebuild homes
will be
with us to share their experiences. Ralph and Joy Anderson
from
Redeemer were part of this group, and we look forward to
welcoming the
group and all that they will be sharing with us.
EMERGENCY PASTOR WHILE PASTOR JOEL IS ON VACATION:
Diane and I will be on vacation July 12 - 29. During this
time, Bob
Kosta (Lay Deacon) and the Elders will be in charge of
pastoral care.
Please call the office Bob or one of our Elders in case you
need
pastoral care: Fred Gargiulo, Rick Crawford, Max Lenz. If a
crisis
arises for which you need a pastor, please contact Rev
Marti Lundi
at 503-873-4914. Pastor Lundi and his wife are
frequently present
for worship here at Redeemer and known by many of you.
