Pastor Joel's Mid-Week Reminders for 2/7/2012
This entry was posted on 2/8/2012 7:45 AM and is filed under Mid-Week Reminders.
'Weeping may linger for the night, but joy
comes with
the morning.' Psalm 30.5
This is a deeply
personal
testimony of one who was on the verge of death, yet was
rescued by
God's healing. It plumbs the emotional depths of suffering
and loss,
yet also bursts with thanksgiving and joy, two of the great
hallmarks
of the believer in God.
We tend to have tunnel vision in times of despair or
crisis. We have a
hard time seeing the big picture because our focus is on our
own
suffering. It's OK to feel deeply and powerfully about
those things in
our life that threaten our well being and overwhelm us with
fear. But
we don't want to live there. Somehow we try to break out of
our dark
circles and move toward the light.
For the follower of Jesus, that gift is given us in his
life, filled
with all the human experiences and emotions we have; his
suffering and
death, when he cried to his Father in agony; his grave, dead
in
complete darkness; and his resurrection at dawn to new life
and eternal
reign. From death to life, from darkness to light, from
loss to
victory, it is true for each of us: "Weeping may linger for
the night,
but joy comes with the morning."
